Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], January 8 (ANI): Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh called Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) "an important event", where India can showcase its progress, meet with diaspora settled in various nations and hold detailed discussions on how they can expand interests.
Speaking to ANI, Singh said that they are trying to make Pravasi Bharatiya Divas a big event which has participation from as many countries as possible. He called it an important event for India and the diaspora as there will be an exchange of ideas and constructive thoughts.
On Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Kirti Vardhan Singh said, "We are trying our best to make it a big event where there is participation from as many countries as possible, from all states of our diaspora. This is a very important event for us, where we can showcase our country's progress and also meet with our diaspora settled in various countries, various parts of the globe, and we take their suggestions and we also have detailed discussions on how we can expand interests and also how we can help our diaspora in achieving their goals. So, it's a very important event for us and for the Indian diaspora where there is exchange of ideas, constructive thoughts and it helps us to make better plans for the future."
Speaking about the Indian diaspora, he said, "I am very happy to state that all over the world wherever I have had the opportunity to go and interact with the diaspora. What comes as an immense source of pride to me is when the people in foreign countries, their dignitaries, their officials, their politicians, they always have only high praise for our Indian diaspora, how law-abiding they are, how hard-working they are, how many achievements they have made. So, it feels nice to hear that and on our part, as a government, as External Affairs Ministry, we will do everything possible to keep that going."
Notably, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship initiative of the Government of India that provides an important platform to connect and engage with the Indian diaspora and enable them to interact with each other.
The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention is being organized in partnership with the State Government of Odisha from January 8 to 10 in Bhubaneswar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) convention at Bhubaneswar, Odisha on January 9 at 10:00 am.
The theme of this PBD Convention is "Diaspora's Contribution to a Viksit Bharat." A large number of Indian diaspora members from over 50 different countries have registered to participate in the PBD Convention. (ANI)
