First-ever Bangladeshi bonded cargo departs from Kolkata airport

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Jan 03(ANI): A bonded cargo from Bangladesh departed from Kolkata airport for the first time on Thursday.
A press statement released by the Bangladesh High Commission informed that this was the first time when Expo Freight Limited (EFL) offices situated both in Bangladesh and India, introduced a tailor-made logistics solution to handle such cargo transshipment between the two neighbouring countries.
Bangladeshi trucks carrying cargo weighing 4.1 tonnes transferred the goods to Indian trucks at the Benapole in Dhaka, and Petrapole on the Indian side of the border. From there, via GPS enabled trucks, the cargo moved to the Kolkata airport. Finally, it was air freighted to reach the terminal destination in Europe within the specified time window.
Through this trial initiative, Kolkata turned out to be a strategic and useful transshipment doorway to Bangladesh for inbound and outbound air transportation.
"We are proud to enrich our ties with Bangladesh through this movement and alternative solutions of this nature will enable us to enhance efficiencies of our logistics operations to promote international trade," Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EFL Group S. Senthilnathan said.
Meanwhile, EFL is considering this move as a breakthrough that would further prove to be instrumental in positively impacting business growth beyond borders. (ANI)
