Emperor and Empress of Japan greet huge crowds during parade marking enthronement

Tokyo [Japan], Nov 10 (ANI): Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on Sunday took part in the Imperial Procession to complete the enthronement process of the new Japanese Emperor.

Tokyo [Japan], Nov 10 (ANI): Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako on Sunday took part in the Imperial Procession to complete the enthronement process of the new Japanese Emperor.
In honour of the new emperor Naruhito, scores of people gathered at the city centre in Tokyo to celebrate the enthronement ceremony, NHK World reported.
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako waved and smiled from an open car in Sunday's motorcade as close to twenty-six- thousand gathered around the Imperial Palace to witness the historic event.
Security officials set up dozens of checkpoints to make sure the crowd did not carry any banned objects.
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Crown Prince and Crown Princess Akishino were also present at the event.
Member of Japanese Guard and the Self-Defence Forces saluted the Prince and the Princess in a parade which was the last ceremony for the enthronement of the new Emperor. (ANI)
