Islamabad [Pakistan], June 5 (ANI): Justice (retired) Dost Mohammad Khan will be the caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province till general elections are concluded in Pakistan in July.
The KP government and the opposition had sent the commission four names to be considered for the post, the Dawn reported, citing ECP Additional Secretary Dr. Akhtar Nazeer, as saying.
Akhtar made his remarks while addressing the media outside the ECP office in Islamabad.
The names were forwarded to the ECP after members of the parliamentary committee failed to arrive at a consensus.
The committee met at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House, Islamabad, and after a round of talks decided to refer the matter to the ECP.
The opposition had given the names of businessman Manzoor Afridi and Justice (retd) Khan while the government nominated retired bureaucrats - Himayatullah Khan and Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, according to media reports.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) had agreed on the name of Manzoor Afridi for the caretaker chief minister, but reversed its decision within 24 hours.
Hailing from Bannu, Justice Dost Mohammad retired as apex court judge on March 19. (ANI)
