United States President Donald Trump

Washington D.C. [USA], Jun 1 (ANI): United States President Donald Trump on Thursday said he did not fire Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey due to the alleged Russian meddling probe, contradicting his previous statements.
Trump took to his Twitter handle and lambasted the "corrupt mainstream media" for what he called the "promotion of a false narrative" regarding Comey's dismissal.
"Not that it matters but I never fired James Comey because of Russia! The Corrupt Mainstream Media loves to keep pushing that narrative, but they know it is not true!" Trump tweeted.

In another tweet, Trump once again took on the "corrupt mainstream media", when he questioned as to why news organisations had not covered his claims about his "supposed" surveillance of his 2016 presidential campaign, as per The Hill.
The US President wrote on the micro-blogging site, ""The corrupt Mainstream Media is working overtime not to mention the infiltration of people, Spies (Informants), into my campaign! Surveillance much?"

Many news organisations have covered Trump's claims, including the one when a "spy" was embedded by the law enforcement into the US president's campaign in 2016, as per the report.
However, there is no evidence of the embedded spy in the Trump campaign so far, although several media reports said that the informant contacted three people on the US president's campaign.
Later, Trump claimed that the FBI's decision of using the embedded spy as an evidence was done under the Barack Obama administration, adding it was politically motivated, according to the report.
Last year, the US President wrote on Twitter accusing Obama of wiretapping phones used by his campaign, without any evidence. (ANI)
