Prague [Czech Republic], Dec 21 (ANI): The death toll in the coal mine explosion near Czech Republic's eastern city of Karvina reached 13 on Friday.
The death toll in Czech Republic's coal mine blast reached 13 on Friday.
Al Jazeera reported that the explosion near the eastern city of Karvina occurred on Thursday at a depth of 800 meters.
"Due to yesterday's mine disaster, 13 miners lost their lives - 11 Poles and two Czechs," Ostrava-Karvina Mines (OKD) spokesman Ivo Celechovsky said at a televised news conference.
The injured have been undergoing treatment in the hospital.
"Unfortunately, we have reached a point where it was impossible to move forward because there was a fire raging and zero visibility," said Boleslav Kowalczyk, Managing Director of the OKD. (ANI)
