CPN-UML lawmaker demands information on Pak PM visit

Kathmandu [Nepal], Mar. 27 (ANI): A Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) lawmaker has demanded information about the visit of Pakistan Prime Minister' Shahid Khakan Abbasi.

Birodh Khatiwada, a lawmaker from the CPN-UML, demanded information on the engagements of Prime Minister Abbasi during a parliamentary meeting.

"Pakistani Prime Minister came amidst the commencement of the parliamentary meeting. I thought the information regarding his visit was not released because of the discussion over various other issues in the parliament but today (Monday) also it is not included in the schedule of the house. The parliament retains the right of being notified about the issues and topics of the discussion held between the state head of two nations," Khatiwada said.

"The sovereignty of parliament links the people. If the issues of such visits are not regarded as the issue of public interest and the parliament remains isolated from it then the parliament will gradually lose its rights, which ultimately means the public also will be restrained from their right to be informed," he added.

Khatiwada requested the government encompassing honourable speaker of the house to notify about the talks made during the visit.

"Or is this the visit compared with Sushma Swaraj, which had the mandate of flourishing the relation between the two countries, a valentine visit?" Khatiwada said.

Abbasi had visited Nepal from March 5 for three days and held the meetings and series of talks with the politicos.

This visit of Pakistan Prime Minister came with the formation of the government under the leadership of Left alliance pressurised Nepal over the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit which failed to commence with the wake of a terrorist attack by Pakistan supported terrorist on India.
