Beijing [China], Mar 15 (ANI): China on Friday increased more preferential policies for the people of Taiwan.
Addressing a press conference in Beijing, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said that the policies would ensure similar treatment for the Taiwanese people as those belonging to mainland China in aspects related to work, study, living and business, Xinhua reported.
Previously, China had introduced 31 measures for promoting cross-Strait economic and cultural exchanges. Li noted in his statement that those policy measures should be fully delivered, and new measures should be introduced as well.
"When people on both sides of the Strait enjoy the same development opportunities and come closer to each other, the cross-Strait relationship will grow stronger and make more solid progress," Li said.
Furthermore, Li reiterated that mainland China will continue to adhere to the one-China principle and the 1992 Consensus, oppose "Taiwan independence," and promote the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations and peaceful reunification of our motherland. (ANI)
