Beijing [China], Mar 7 (ANI): China on Thursday expressed its concern about the situation between Pakistan and India and asked both nuclear-armed nations to refrain from aggravating the situation in Kashmir.
It also asked both the countries to initiate the dialogue to restore "peace and stability".
"China was very concerned about the situation between Pakistan and India. China maintains that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries should be earnestly respected, and is unwilling to see acts that violate the norms of international relations," SCMP quoted Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Kong Xuanyou as saying.
Kong made these remarks during a two-day visit to Islamabad.
The Chinese deputy foreign Minister remarks come on the heels of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. A day after India launched "pre-emptive" and "non-military" strike against JeM in Pakistan's Balakot, the fighter jets of the two countries engaged in a dogfight in the skies of Jammu and Kashmir after Pakistani F-16 planes transgressed into the Indian air space.
Tensions between India and Pakistan heightened following the February 14 attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy in Pulwama in which 40 personnel were killed and five injured. (ANI)
