London [UK], Nov 15 (ANI): After a five-hour meeting with the British Cabinet, UK's Prime Minister Theresa May announced that the Cabinet agreed to back the draft Brexit deal that has been reached by negotiators from Britain and the European Union (EU).
"This is a decisive step, which enables us to move on and finalise the deal in the days ahead. These decisions were not taken lightly, but I believe it's a decision that's firmly in the national interest," May told waiting press outside Downing Street after the meeting, adding that the draft agreement is the best that could have been negotiated.
May is expected to address the Parliament on Thursday, according to CNN.
Speculations were strife that the British Prime Minister may face a vote of no-confidence by her Conservative party, despite the outcome of Wednesday's (local time) meeting.
On the other side, Ambassadors from 27 EU countries met at Brussels over the Brexit deal on Wednesday (local time), following which the Brexit draft deal was released by the EU.
The UK is due to leave the EU on March 29, 2019, while the EU Withdrawal Bill (or the Brexit Bill) became a law in June this year after Queen Elizabeth II's approval. (ANI)
