Former Maoist splinters and faction of Gen-Z alliance in Nepal has united to form Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party. The new political party was announced on Sunday by merging various groups led by former Maoist Centre deputy general secretary Janardan Sharma, Durga Sob of the Nepal Samajwadi Party (Naya Shakti) and former Rastriya Swatantra Party chief whip Santosh Pariyar.

A merger of nine parties including the CPN-Maoist Center is set to take place on Wednesday to form "Nepali Communist Party" with the approaching March election after the Gen-Z revolution in the Himalayan Nation.

Seven communist parties in Nepal, including the Prachanda-led CPN (Maoist Centre), signed an 18-point agreement to form a unified party ahead of the March 2026 elections. The alliance aims to advance socialism, protect democratic gains, and will formally launch during a national unity conference on November 5.

Launched in 2024, the policy aims to build smart industrial corridors and modern estates to connect markets, ease logistics, and support efficient, tech-enabled businesses.
