Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari

Islamabad [Pakistan], Jul 2 (ANI): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday condemned the interim government for failing to provide adequate protection to the electoral candidates and maintaining law and order ahead of July 25 General election.
This came a day after the angry mob pelted stones and disrupted the convoy of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in the metropolis' Lyari locality.
As per a report of the Express Tribune, the spokesperson for Bilawal, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said the "onus of protecting the candidate and ensuring that peace prevails falls upon the caretaker setup. They failed in their responsibility to do so."
Khokhar accused the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) of standing like mute spectators when the incident took place.
He even blamed the media for 'misreporting' the incident and termed the incident as a deliberate attempt to "create an atmosphere of fear" ahead of elections.
"Our workers showed immense restraint despite great provocation. Forces of violence and political parties that thrive on conflict tried their best to deter us but failed spectacularly," he said.
Bilawal's convoy was on his way to Karachi's Lyari town in Sindh province to kick start his election campaign when the incident took place.
Though Bhutto escaped unharmed in the attack, the window of his car was smashed by the miscreants.
The PPP workers hurled back stones at the protestors who were residents of Lyari's Bihar Colony, reported the Express Tribune.
Bilawal's convoy remained stuck in the area for half an hour over the failure of diffusing the situation, as per several local media reports.
Pakistan is slated to hold general elections on July 25. Bhutto is contesting from NA-246, Karachi. (ANI)
