Karachi [Pakistan], Jul 14 (ANI): Hundreds of bankers will perform election duties across Pakistan in the upcoming General Elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan was coerced to the services of financial institutions' employees, due to a shortage of staff, reported the Dawn.
The State Bank of Pakistan was informed about the same by the ECP, which had notified all scheduled banks to volunteer their employees for training for the Election Day.
An official of the ECP informed the leading daily that the process has already been started in Sindh. He further asserted that the bankers would be trained as soon as possible.
"The provincial election commissions (PECs) have been asked to coordinate with the State Bank to get the services of required bankers associated with all scheduled banks to meet the shortage of election staff. More than 20 scheduled - both government and private - banks are operating in Pakistan," the official said.
As per the ECP, a total 735,000 polling staff are required for July 25 and the process is underway to fill the gap.
The ECP said officers with a good reputation and no affiliation with any political parties were considered for the poll duty.
Apart from this, computer literacy, knowledge of smartphones were also important parameter to choose the officers. (ANI)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
