Surya Kiran military exercise

Pithoragarh (Uttarakhand) [India], June 6 (ANI): A lecture-cum-demonstration on Jungle Lane shooting and Improvised Explosive Device (IED) lane was held on Saturday as part of the ongoing Surya Kiran military exercise between India and Nepal at Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh.
The purpose of this exercise was to demonstrate the skills required for combat shooting in jungle and mountainous terrain.
Soldiers were trained to develop their reflexes and soldierly instincts as part of this exercise.
The IED realistic training was focussed on informing the soldiers about the different types of the explosive devices and their countermeasures.
Troops also practiced making and devising various types of booby traps and honed skills of recognising such traps to save themselves during counter-terrorist operations.
A lecture-cum-demonstration on Road Opening and Convoy Protection was also conducted as part of the curriculum.
The demonstrations focused on providing safety and security to troops and transport from IEDs, ambushes and other such actions carried out by terrorists against the security forces.
The Surya Kiran military exercise, which began on May 30, is set to conclude on June 12.
This bi-annual event, held alternatively between India and Nepal, is expected to enhance the level of defense cooperation, and in turn strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations. (ANI)
