Islamabad [Pakistan], Mar 17 (ANI): Four people lost their lives in a blast targeting a passenger train in Balochistan's Dera Murad Jamali area on Sunday.
Dawn quoted police chief of Naseerabad district, Irfan Bashir, as saying that the culprits had planted an improvised explosive device on the railway track to target the Jaffar Express.
A huge blast was heard when the Express train reached Dera Murad Jamali station. The blast damaged a portion of the railway track, Bashir noted.
"Jaffar Express was going from Rawalpindi to Quetta when attacked," he added.
Six carriages of the train were derailed in the blast injuring as many as 10 people who have been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
"Four people, including a teenage girl her mother and two others were killed in the blast," Bashir was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.
The police and other law enforcement agencies rushed to the accident site immediately after the attack. An investigation into the matter is underway.
Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani has strongly condemned the blast and vowed to hold the culprits accountable for the crime.
Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack as of now. (ANI)

MEA rejects Pakistan’s statement on India-Canada deal

"We reject this statement made by Pakistan on the matter. India's credentials regarding non-proliferation are impeccable and well recognised by the global community. A country with a well-documented history of clandestine nuclear proliferation can hardly preach the virtues of export controls and proliferation risks. Such ludicrous statements are nothing more than an attempt by Pakistan to distract from its own abysmal record," he said.
