Xiaomi sets agenda to double offline presence in India

New Delhi, Aug 14 (ANI): Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has announced its plans to double the offline presence in India over the next few months. The smartphone maker presently registers 90 percent of its sales from online channel in India. "We are trying to build a base for offline in India. We had a partnership with Redington last year (for distribution) and four weeks back, tied up with Innocomm and Just Buy Live," said Xiaomi India Head, Manu Jain. He added that the two new partners help Xiaomi to sell its products via 5,000 shops, and plans to double the figure in a few months. Earlier with the launch of Xiaomi's Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime in the country, both handsets were available at Mi.com and Flipkart. "For the first sale that we did yesterday, we wanted to bring the highest possible quantity and we brought 90,000 units. Everything was added to cart in a few minutes and it took two-and-a-half hours to ship out everything," added Jain. Both phones have been manufactured in India at the company's Andhra Pradesh facility, which is likely to scale up with more lines and more capacity. (ANI)
