SRM University unveils newly developed CR 16 race car
Chennai, July 25 (ANI-Newsvoir): SRM University's Formula racing team, 'Team Camber Racing' unveiled their new race car, CR 16 - German edition in Chennai on July 23. The car is going to race on the Hockenheim ring in Germany in August for the Formula Student Germany race event. This is Camber Racing team's sixth car. The race car is equipped with full Aero package, adjustable ARB, launch control and many other extraordinary features which has improved its performance over the previous versions. The car weighs under 185 kg and is powered by a KTM duke 390's engine tuned to produce power in excess of 40 Hp. Also it is learnt that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.6 seconds. "With a continuous success streak coupled with dedication and hard work, the team hopes to perform its best in next month's race in Germany and aims continue its legacy of building people and not just cars. Camber racing team was started in 2009 from scratch. Even without the support of the industry, we were able to achieve great success in almost all the events we participated. The alumni played a vital role in flow of experience and technology and our sponsors helped us with the flow of funds," said HOD of Automobile Engineering and Team Principal, Dr. Leenus Jesu Martin. Speaking on the occasion, Sharda Motors Industry Ltd CEO and R&D head, Dr. S Rajadurai, said, "We have been actively involving ourselves with the Camber racing team. We helped them build an effective exhaust system which doesn't exert excessive back pressure but at the same time keeps the sound lower than 110 db, a race criteria. In addition, our exhaust system helped the engine to extract maximum performance. It's indeed a joy to be a part of this enthusiastic team." Explaining the legacy of the team, Camber Racing Team Captain, BVN Madhu, said, "We toiled hard to design, fabricate and test our own race cars for various national and international events organised by the 'Society of Automotive Engineers - SAE'. We are a team of budding engineers from all branches and years of engineering who learn, gain skills and experience to build a race car. Since our inception in 2009, we have built 5 race cars and are currently working on our 6th car, the CR 16. In the 6 years of our existence, we have won 18 awards." The car was unveiled in SRM University's auditorium and was graced by Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Prabir K Bagchi, director of E and T, Dr. C Muthamizhchelvan, HOD of Automobile Engineering and Team principal, Dr. Leenus Jesu Martin, and Sharda Motors Industry Ltd. CEO and R&D head, Dr. S Rajadurai. (ANI-Newsvoir)
