Women's T20 Asia Cup: India snatch comprehensive win after Nepal's dramatic collapse
Bangkok [Thailand], Dec.2 (ANI): A flawless performance with the ball saw the Indian women's cricket team register a crushing 99-run win over Nepal in the inconsequential clash of the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup at the Asian Institute of Technology Ground here on Friday. After being asked to bat first, Indian women posted a reasonable total of 120 runs in their stipulated 20 overs, with Shikha Pandey and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur remaining unbeaten at 39 and 14 respectively. Opener Vellaswamy Vanitha contributed 14-ball 21 runs in her side's innings. In reply, Nepal suffered a dramatic collapse as they were bundled out for mere 21 runs, with none of the women able to reach double figures. Poonam Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India as she finished with the figures of three for nine followed by Anandi Patel's two for duck. Sabbhineni Meghana bagged two wickets while Shikha Pandey, Mansi Joshi and Ekta Bishta all chipped in with a wicket each. Shikha was declared `Player of the Match` for her contribution with both bat and ball. However, India have already booked their place in the finals after beating Sri Lanka by 52 runs to maintain their unbeaten streak in the tournament on Thursday. (ANI)
