Warner takes dig at Proteas over Adelaide Airport brawl
Melbourne [Australia], Nov. 22 (ANI): Aussie vice-captain David Warner has asserted that he would be "very disappointed" if the Australian players conducted themselves the way the Proteas have been doing on this tour. Going into the third Test, the focus of a rather one-sided Proteas tour Down Under has shifted from their series win to off-field activities and a ball tempering issue involving stand-in skipper Faf du Plessis. On Monday, du Plessis was involved in an airport confrontation at the Adelaide Airport wherein a security official travelling with the South African cricket team shoved an Australian television reporter against a glass door who was attempting to interview the stand-in skipper. Du Plessis has been charged with ball tampering by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after he allegedly applied a mint-infused saliva to the ball during the fourth day's play of the second Test against Australia, which concluded in Hobart on last Tuesday. Reacting to the incident on Twitter, veteran batsman Hashim Amla lashed out at the reporter, saying, "Disappointed.. such provocative behaviour from reporters. Let a man walk in peace. Ask with manners n courtesy and u prob will get a response (sic)." "I won't comment on the way they've been behaving," Warner was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au when asked about his views on the incidents. "I just know from an Australian cricket perspective we hold our heads high and I'd be very disappointed if one of our team members did that, and how they're reacting," he added. The explosive left-handed batsman further said, "For us it's about controlling what we can do, and that's playing the best cricket we can and let them worry about what they're doing." South Africa are currently chasing a first-ever series whitewash in Australia when they go into the pink ball Test in Adelaide commencing from November 24 following their comprehensive victories in Perth and Hobart.
