SC bars N. Srinivasan from representing BCCI at ICC meet
New Delhi [India], Apr 17 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday directed that former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president N. Srinivasan is not allowed to attend the ICC meeting slated to be held on April 24 as his integrity is "questionable". The apex court bench, headed by Justice Dipak Misra, also clarified that BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary can attend the meeting. The top court issued this directive while hearing a plea filed by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) against the BCCI's Committee of Administrators (CoA) in connection with the state cricket associations complying with the Lodha panel recommendations. The CAB had informed the CoA that president Sourav Ganguly, the two joint secretaries Subir Ganguly and Avishek Dalmiya, assistant secretary Anu Dutta along with the three vice-presidents are still eligible for holding post in the office. The only ineligible office-bearer is treasurer Biswarup Dey. Earlier, the BCCI CoA had adjourned its Special General Meeting (SGM) after it was decided that the board will wait for the Supreme Court's verdict on the eligibility of the members, who can be present in the meeting. The CoA had sought intervention from the apex court to adjudicate whether disqualified members can attend the ICC meetings. Srinivasan was present in the meeting held on April 12 despite being warned by the CoA. Srinivasan was forced out of the BCCI in the aftermath of the IPL 2013 spot-fixing scandal. The primary objective of the SGM was reported to be the appointment of BCCI's representatives to the International Cricket Council (ICC) meetings. (ANI)
