Ryan Sidebottom to retire after 2017 English season
London [U.K], Feb.22 (ANI): Former England pacer Ryan Sidebottom has announced that he will bid adieu to cricket after the 2017 English season, thus bringing an end to his illustrious 20-year career.

London [U.K], Feb.22 (ANI): Former England pacer Ryan Sidebottom has announced that he will bid adieu to cricket after the 2017 English season, thus bringing an end to his illustrious 20-year career. The 39-year-old will bring the curtain down after the Specsavers County Championship season where he will be eyeing sixth title, having previously won twice with Nottinghamshire (2005 and 2010) and three times with Yorkshire (2001, 2014 and 2015). Reflecting on his decision, Sidebottom said that although the thought of not playing profession cricket brings tear to his eyes, he believes that it would be correct to end his career on a high note. "There's a tear in my eye whenever I think about not playing professional cricket again - a game that's given me so much over the years. But it's the right time and I want to go out on a high, rather than fade away as that's just not the sort of guy I am," ESPNcricinfo quoted Sidebottom as saying. Sidebottom had notched up 89 Championship wickets in Yorkshire's back to back wins in 2014 and 2015 before adding 31 wickets to his account last year, when the side just fell short of a hat-trick of titles. As far as his international career is concerned, which came to an end in 2010, Sidebottom made 22 Tests, 25 ODIs, and 18 T20Is appearance for England. (ANI)
