`Ruthless` India to seek Test series whitewash against Aussies: Vijay
Melbourne [Australia], Feb.4 (ANI): Indian opener Murali Vijay, who recently spent more than a month on sidelines with a shoulder injury, has issued a warning to Australia, saying his side would be ruthless and seek a four-match Test series whitewash when they host the Steve Smith-led side from February 23 in Pune. Fresh from their recent 4-1 Test series win and a series of limited-overs victory against England, India will aim to continue their dominance at home when they take on Australia. Vijay also admitted that although Australia are a top side, his side has also been displaying some good brand of cricket in the recent times. "What we have to do is to focus on our preparation. Aussies are a top side, but we have been playing a great brand of cricket for the past three years. I think we will be dominating the Aussies. approach would be winning the series four-nil," cricket.com.au quoted Vijay as saying. Launching a scathing attack against the Australian side, Vijay said that it seems that the visiting side have some strategy for India tour as they have packed their squad with spinners. "It looks like Australia have a new strategy for India tour as they have packed their squad with spinners," Vijay told. The opening batsman also reflected on his preparation for the upcoming series. Vijay insisted that he has a strong belief in his ability and is fully geared up for the challenge ahead. "I'm up for the challenge. I have a strong belief in my ability and I'm sure it will hold me in good stead. I'm also working on a few aspects to enhance my game," he said. It is observed that Vijay is particularly looking forward to facing Australian spearhead Mitchell Starc, after losing his wicket to the lethal left-armer twice during India's Test tour of Australia in 2014-15. Prior to the Australia series, India will take on Bangladesh in one-off Test match beginning on February 9 in Hyderabad. (ANI)
