Ruthless England crush Pakistan to level Test series 1-1
London, July 25 (ANI): England bounced back in the four-Test series in a resounding fashion, beating Pakistan by 330 runs in the second match to level the series 1-1 at Old Trafford in Manchester on Monday. Chasing a mammoth target of 565, Pakistan were bundled out for 234 in their second innings with more than a day left in a match. England pace spearhead James Anderson, spin all-rounder Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes shared nine wickets among them to dismantle the touring side's batting attack. Earlier, England declared their second innings on 173 for one as captain Alastair Cook, who scored 105 in first innings, and star batsman Joe Root extended the lead by remaining unbeaten on 76 and 71, respectively. Root was awarded the Man of the Match as his 254-run knock was the cornerstone of England massive first innings total of 589 for eight declared. The only disappointment for the hosts came in the form of Ben Stokes, who was forced to pull out of the match with a right calf strain. Pakistan, on the other hand, looked completely hapless as neither batsmen nor bowlers could produce any inspiring performance. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq was the top scorer for his side, scoring 52 and 35 in first and second innings respectively. The third Test will be played at Edgbaston on August 3. (ANI)
