Rod Marsh to step down as Australia's chief selector in 2017
Melbourne [Australia], Oct.13 (ANI): Cricket Australia chairman of selectors Rod Marsh has announced that he will step down from the position when his contract expires next year. The 68-year-old was originally appointed to the selection panel in 2011 under the then chairman of selectors John Inverarity, before taking over the leadership of the committee in 2014. Confirming the news, Cricket Australia (CA) said Marsh had decided not to continue beyond his current contract which will expire in June 2017. "We can confirm that Rod Marsh has decided not to continue on in his role as national selector once his contract expires in June 2017.At this stage no decision has been made on a replacement," CA spokesperson was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. Former Test wicketkeeper-batsman Marsh heads a four-member selection panel that includes Trevor Hohns, Mark Waugh and team head coach Darren Lehmann. Under Marsh's chairmanship of the panel, Australia were beaten 2-0 against Pakistan in 2014 before losing the Ashes series in England last year. However, Australia's victory in the 50-over World Cup on home soil was the highlight of Marsh's time at the helm while the team also continued to remain the No.1 ranked ODI team. (ANI)
