Recovering Rohit Sharma eyes comeback in Australia series
Melbourne [Australia], Feb. 5 (ANI): Star Indian batter Rohit Sharma, who is continuing with a thorough rehabilitation program, is hoping to make a comeback into the national team for the upcoming four-match Test series against Australia starting February 23 in Pune. Rohit was not a part of India's Test, ODI and T20 triumphs against England, having undergone a thigh surgery in London after suffering an injury in the final One-day International against New Zealand last year. He is also not a part of the Indian team facing Bangladesh in the lone Test beginning February 9 in Hyderabad. "I am trying to make a comeback in the Australia series," cricket.com.au quoted Rohit as saying. "That is the series I am eyeing. I am at the NCA (National Cricket Academy) right now and everybody is trying to help me out. I can't give an exact date but I will try to play the series against Australia." The Mumbaikar said that he has been in a very positive frame of mind during the injury period. "Injuries are part and parcel of a game, you can't avoid them for long," he said. The 29-year-old displayed an imperious form during the three-Test series against New Zealand that preceded the ODIs, amassing 238 runs at 79.3 batting at No.6. The first Test in Pune would be followed by games at Bengaluru (March 4-8), Ranchi (March 16-20) and Dharamsala (March 25-29). (ANI)
