Rajasthan Cricket Association accepts Lodha reforms
Dhaulpur (Rajasthan) [India], Jan. 10 (ANI): Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) on Tuesday accepted the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee in its meeting which was held here in Dhaulpur. Secretary of RCA Sumendra Tewari, in a press release, said that all the members of district cricket associations have accepted the recommendations of the Lodha committee which was constituted by the Supreme Court. The three-member Lodha Committee was appointed by the apex court after the 'conflict of interest' issue sparked a controversy in Indian cricket. The Supreme Court had on January 2 cracked the whip on Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke by removing them from their respective posts for their failure to bring transparency and accountability to the Indian cricket board and their non-compliance of the court's July 18, 2016 order. A bench, headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur, also issued notice to Anurag seeking an explanation why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him. Earlier in a landmark judgment on July 18, 2016, the Supreme Court accepted major recommendations of Justice Lodha-led panel on structural reforms in the BCCI and had given six months deadline to the board implement the recommendations. The recommendations that were accepted by the apex court were: -Each state will have only one vote at BCCI elections -BCCI and state office bearers must not be over 70 years old -No person can hold office at the BCCI and state association simultaneously -No person can hold more than three, three-year terms as a BCCI official, and no official can serve consecutive terms.
