Piedt, Prince come in support of `under-fire` coach Domingo
Johannesburg [South Africa], Jan.30 (ANI): A day after news arose that South Africa head coach Russell Domingo would have to reapply for his job if he wants to stay in charge of the team after their summer tour of England, spinner Dane Piedt and former cricketer Ashwell Prince have come in support of him. Domingo's job had come under-fire towards the start of 2016 when South Africa slumped to a Test series defeats at the hands of India and England and also had a disappointing World T20 campaign, Sport24 reported. However, the Proteas have experienced a revival over the past few months, having notched Test series wins over New Zealand (at home), Australia (away) and Sri Lanka (home) besides clinching a 5-0 ODI series whitewash against the Steve Smith-led side at home. Despite the side's recent success, it seems that Cricket South Africa (CSA) has made up its mind as they are resolving to begin a recruitment process and looking to appoint a head coach through to the 2019 World Cup. Therefore, CSA had also asked Domingo that if he wants stay on as coach then he would have to get his CV in order and apply with the rest of them. Offering his support to Domingo, Proteas spinner Dane Piedt wrote on Twitter, " Winning a 1 day series 5-0 and a test serious down under, but still needs to apply for his job... naaaa." Piedt's tweet drew a response from former South African cricketer and current Cape Cobras coach Ashwell Prince, who echoed similar views. "Cannot agree more. Absolutely ridiculous that @RussellDomingo has to reapply for his job," Prince tweeted. Domingo has been in the role since May 2013 and his contract is due to expire in August. South Africa are slated to play three ODIs, three Twenty20 internationals and four Test matches against England beginning on May 24 in Leeds. (ANI)
