PCB sends legal notice to BCCI for dishonouring MoU

Karachi [Pakistan], May 4 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent a legal notice to its Indian counterpart for failing to honour the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two cricket boards in 2014. Confirming the news, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan said that they have claimed compensation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for breaching the agreement. "We have initiated the legal process by sending BCCI a Notice of Dispute under the Dispute Resolution Committee Terms of reference of the International Cricket Council," the Dawn quoted Shaharyar as saying. "PCB has claimed the losses and damage suffered by it, which comes to around $60 million, as a result of BCCI's breaches of the agreement," he added. Last month, PCB executive committee chairman Najam Sethi informed that they have decided to sue the BCCI for failing to honour an agreement to play a bilateral series. In December, Najam had revealed that the PCB had suffered a loss of 200 million dollars because of India's refusal to play the promised series against Pakistan. According to the 2014 agreement, India were scheduled to play six series against Pakistan, four of them were going to be Pakistan's home series. While the BCCI has repeatedly snubbed Pakistan's request for resumption of ties, the PCB wants the Indian cricket board to honour its commitment of six series between 2015-2023 under the MoU signed, which is subjected to clearance from the Government of India. Despite not playing a full-fledged bilateral series against Pakistan since the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai, the arch-rivals have played each other a number of times in the ICC events, with the most recent coming at the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup.
