Mumbai [India], Dec.11 (ANI): Skipper Virat Kohli struck his third double century of the year as India pushed their first-innings lead to 179 at lunch on fourth day of the fourth Test against England at the Wankhede Stadium here on Sunday.

Mumbai [India], Dec.11 (ANI): Skipper Virat Kohli struck his third double century of the year as India pushed their first-innings lead to 179 at lunch on fourth day of the fourth Test against England at the Wankhede Stadium here on Sunday. Resuming at their yesterday's score of 451-7, Kohli continued his tour-de-force against England as he smashed a brilliant 212-run knock besides sharing a huge 215-run partnership with Jayant Yadav (92) for the eighth wicket to guide India past the 500-run mark. At lunch, India were at 579-7, with Kohli and Yadav looking all set to further push the hosts' lead. It was Kohli's first double century in Tests against England. He reached the milestone in 302 balls with 23 fours but no sixes. Meanwhile, Yadav now has the highest individual score by a number nine batsman in Tests for India and is now chasing a record century. Earlier on day three, Indian batting mainstay Kohli not only notched up his 15th Test century, but also reached the 4000-run mark when he crossed 41 during the match. Kohli, who reached the milestone in his 52nd Test, has become the sixth-fastest Indian batsman to reach the figure.(ANI)
