Misbah, Younis shouldn't leave Pakistan at same time: Abdul Qadir
Karachi [Pakistan], May 10 (ANI): Legendary Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir feels that Misbah-ul-haq and Younis Khan shouldn't leave the Test team at the same time as it could cause problems for the Men in Green in the longest format of the game. Both Misbah and Younis have announced that they will bid adieu to international cricket after the ongoing three-match Test series against West Indies. Citing examples of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, Qadir insisted that the retiring veterans, Misbah and Younis, shouldn't leave the team at the same time as it could bring the team in disarray. "I was really sad when [Kumar] Sangakkara and [Mahela] Jayawardene left the Sri Lankan team together. Look at their team now, they are in such a disarray," Express Tribune quoted Qadir as saying. "Likewise, both of these batsmen leaving together could cause problems for Pakistan's Test team. However, they have been great servants to the country," he added. The 61-year-old also identified the players he feels could fill in the void created after the retirement of Misbah and Younis. "Azhar [Ali], Babar [Azam] and [Asad] Shafiq are capable enough of taking over the reins when both veterans leave," he said. "However, if you need to bring someone in then give Umar Akmal an extended run in Tests because he still has the ability if he works hard and focuses on his game. Another choice can be Fawad Alam but everyone knows where he is - nowhere in the picture," he added. (ANI)
