Maiden five-wicket haul boosts Roston Chase's confidence
Kingston, Aug 2 (ANI): West Indies all-rounder Roston Chase, playing in only his second Test, has admitted that claiming his maiden five-wicket haul against India has boosted his confidence considerably. "It is a great feeling to get five wickets in any match, but at Test level it is even a better feeling for me. I have just started my Test career and it is a great confidence boost for me that I can do it at this level, so this is a great feeling for me," Chase told reporters after day three's play ended prematurely because of incessant rain and bad light. India continued their ascendancy over West Indies as batting mainstay Ajinkya Rahane (108) powered the tourists to a monster lead of 304 when they declared their first innings at 500-9 on the rain-interrupted third day at Sabina Park, Jamaica. However, persistent rain prevented any play after tea and the threat of tropical storm still looms largely over the fourth day. Chase, who started the day with two wickets, claimed all three wickets to fall in the second session. He removed Amit Mishra and Mohammed Shami in successive deliveries before claiming his final wicket when Umesh Yadav skied one to Holder at short mid-wicket. The 24-year-old batting all-rounder admitted that West Indies are in a difficult situation but insisted that a collective effort from players could give the tourists a fierce challenge on the remaining two days. "We are a bit behind the eight ball but I believe that once the team pulls together, we have been seeing glimpses in the first game and this game, that we have the ability to compete at this level. But we just need to streamline it a bit more so that we can have a better collective effort. As I said we have had some glimpses but we just have to streamline it and we will be fine," he added.
