Lord's triumph repaired our `dented` reputation, says PCB chief
Johannesburg, July 19 (ANI): Heaping praise on Misbah-ul-Haq's team for their remarkable victory at Lord's, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan has stated that the historic triumph has restored the team's reputation which was dented six years ago. Pakistan cricket dealt a severe blow when left-arm quick Mohammad Amir, together with fellow paceman Mohammad Asif and then captain Salman Butt were found guilty of various offences of corrupt behavior relating to the Lord's Test between England and Pakistan in August 2010. The disgraced trio were given five-year bans and jail sentences for deliberately bowling no-balls in the spot-fixing marred match. However, Pakistan made a remarkable turnaround as they took a 1-0 lead in the four-Test series after defeating England by 75 runs in the opening match on Sunday. It was their first Test at Lord's since the infamous 2010 spot-fixing scandal. An ecstatic Shahryar said that Misbah led his side in an exemplary manner and praised the new team management for their great work, Sport24 reported. This was also Amir's first Test appearance after completing a five-year suspension last year. The 24-year-old marked his return at the 'Home of Cricket' with a decent performance, claiming three wickets overall, including the last one of the gripping clash. Yasir Shah, the talismanic leg-spinner, was the star of the match and bagged the Man of the Match award for taking a total of 10 wickets across two innings. (ANI)
