Kraigg Brathwaite dropped from Windies ODI squad against Pak
Barbados [West Indies], Apr.03 (ANI): West Indies opener Kraigg Brathwaite has been dropped from the 13-man squad for the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, beginning on April 7 at the Providence Stadium. Carlos Brathwaite, who led the West Indies side in the recently-concluded four-match T20 series, has also been left out of the upcoming series that is crucial for the Caribbean side's chances of automatic World Cup qualification. Fast bowler Shannon Gabriel, who has recovered from a side strain he sustained during the second ODI against England, has been included in the squad while wicketkeeper Chadwick Walton, whose made his last ODI appearance in 2014, also recalled to the squad for the first two matches against Pakistan. Although opener Evin Lewis failed to make a significant impact in the England series, his 91-run knock during his side's seven-wicket win in the third T20 against Pakistan saw him retain his place in the squad,ESPNcricinfo reported. Pakistan are currently standing No. 8 in the ICC's ODI rankings, holding the final automatic qualification spot for the 2019 World Cup. Meanwhile, West Indies, who are currently ranked ninth with 84 points in the latest ICC team rankings, are under pressure to improve their position on the table as only the top eight ranked teams as of September 30, 2017, will earn an automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup. The West Indies ODI squad is as follows: Jason Holder (captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jonathan Carter, Miguel Cummins, Shannon Gabriel, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Ashley Nurse, Kieran Powell, Rovman Powell, Chadwick Walton.
