KL Rahul insists Indian bowling attack ready to fire against Windies
St.Kitts, July 16 (ANI): Young India batsman KL Rahul has shown confidence on his side's bowling attack, insisting that spinners and pacers are well-prepared to take on hosts West Indies in the opening Test match in Antigua on July 21. "We have three quality spinners and they have been in good form in the Test format and we will be happy if we get turning tracks," Rahul told bcci.tv. "We have the firepower in the pace department as well. All of them have been doing well and increased their fitness levels and pace, so it is good to see them bending their back on wickets like these. Getting the ball to carry are good signs." Having scored two half-centuries in warm-up games, the 24-year-old has made a strong case for himself ahead of the opening Test match as he continued his scintillating form which he displayed during the preceding limited-overs series in Zimbabwe last month. The elegant right-hander retired out on 64 on day two of the three-day practice match as Indians took a massive 184-run lead after posting 364 in their first innings. West Indies Cricket Board President's XI, who were bundled out for 180 in the first innings, were 26 for one at stumps in their second innings. Despite facing a tough competition to secure a spot in the playing XI especially in the top-order, Rahul said that he was not worried about his selection and instead was looking to prepare in the best possible way in order to deliver his best should he gets a call-up. "Look that (team selection) is not in our control. As players, we look to prepare well and whenever an opportunity comes, you need to be prepared to go out there and do well personally and also for your team and play to the roles and responsibilities given. There is still a week to go before the Tests. In next couple days, we will know who is playing or not we will start preparing accordingly. But yeah, not really worried about it. When it comes, it comes and whatever has to happen will happen," he said. (ANI)
