Kiwis level series after nail-biting win in Delhi ODI
New Delhi [India], Oct. 20 (ANI): India suffered a six-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the second ODI of the five-match series here at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Thursday. Last minute resistance from Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who stitched together a 49-run partnership, kept the Kiwis celebration at bay for few minutes. However, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson's 118 runs and Tim Southee's fiery spell of 3-52 made sure that India never reach the target. Earlier, India won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first. New Zealand lost opener Martin Guptill for a duck before Williamson and Tom Latham stitched a 120-run partnership to help the Black Caps post a reasonable total of 242/9. The target which seemed to be reachable at first, was made it tougher by New Zealand bowlers and kept Indian batsmen gasping for runs. Indian right hand batsmen Kedar Jadhav remained the top scorer for India who scored 41 out of 39 balls. Williamson was declared Man of the Mach for his blistering century. With the win, the visitors have now levelled the series at 1-1. India won the opening match by six wickets.(ANI)
