Melbourne [Australia], Jan.24 (ANI): Australian fast bowler Joe Mennie has been cleared of any serious injury after he was struck by a ball during a training session for the the Big Bash League (BBL) clash at the Gabba on Monday. The 28-year-old sustained a blow to the head while preparing for his side Sydney Sixers' semi-final clash against Brisbane Heat to be held on Wednesday. Mennie was initially given a concussion test before being taken to a hospital for further observation. Confirming the incident, a Sydney spokesperson said, "Joe Mennie was struck in the side of his head while bowling during yesterday's training session and was taken to hospital for assessment and treatment." "He was monitored and released last night with no complications and will see Cricket Australia doctors today to map out a return to play timeline," he added. Despite being cleared by the hospital, Mennie has been left out of the Sixers line-up for the crucial semi-final clash, cricket.com.au reported. The spinner, who made his Test debut for Australia in November last year, joined the Sixers in April following three summers with the Hurricanes. (ANI)
