Hastings, Bailey shine as Aussies clinch ODI series against Lanka
Dambulla [Sri Lanka], Aug.31 (ANI):Fast bowler John Hastings showcased an inspiring bowling performance before George Bailey and Aaron Finch smashed blistering half-centuries to guide Australia to a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI to take the five-match series 3-1 here at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Wednesday. Chasing a modest target of 213 runs, Bailey smashed 11 boundaries and one six in his unbeaten knock of 90 runs while opener Finch struck a 19-ball 55 to propel Australia to the other side of the line in just 31 overs. Bailey was well supported by Travis Head (40) as the duo shared a crucial 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Earlier in the day, `Man of the Match` Hastings led from the front as he tore apart Lanka's batting line up by scalping six wickets. However, Dhananjaya de Silva and Mathews provided their side with some stiff resistance by scoring 76 and 40 respectively. Australia will now play an inconsequential fifth ODI against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy on September 4. (ANI)
