Gunaratne, Dickwella named in SL Test squad
Colombo [Sri Lanka], Feb. 28 (ANI): Sri Lankan Batsmen Asela Gunaratne and Niroshan Dickwella have been named in the country's Test squad for the two-match Test series against Bangladesh which would be played at Galle beginning on March 7. According to the Espncricinfo, the batsmen were picked by the team's selection committee after their success in the One- Day format of the game. Gunaratne had smashed two match-winning fifties in the recent T20 series played in Australia, and also struck a maiden ODI hundred in South Africa earlier in the month. However, team's wicket-keeper Kusal Perera and opener Kaushal Silva have been dropped from the squad owing to their poor form in both international and domestic cricket over the past few months. In the bowling department, Malinda Pushpakumara, Lahiru Kumara, Suranga Lakmal, Nuwan Pradeep and Vikum Sanjaya, all have been included in the squad. Rangana Herath will be leading the spin department along with Dilruwan Perera and Lakshan Sandakan and Pushpakumara. The Sri Lanka squad is as follows ; Rangana Herath (captain), Dinesh Chandimal (wicket-keeper), Dimuth Karunaratne, Niroshan Dickwella, Upul Tharanga, Dhananjaya de Silva, Kusal Mendis, Asela Gunaratne, Suranga Lakmal, Lahiru Kumara, Nuwan Pradeep, Vikum Sanjaya, Dilruwan Perera, Lakshan Sandakan, Malinda Pushpakumara.(ANI)
