Gayakwad, Krishnamurthy power Indian eves to ODI series whitewash against Windies

Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Nov.16 (ANI): Veda Krishnamurthy smashed a scorching half-century as the Indian women's cricket team completed a three-match ODI series whitewash against West Indies after registering a 15-run win in the third and the final game at the Dr. Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju ACA Cricket Ground in Malapadu on Wednesday.

Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], Nov.16 (ANI): Veda Krishnamurthy smashed a scorching half-century as the Indian women's cricket team completed a three-match ODI series whitewash against West Indies after registering a 15-run win in the third and the final game at the Dr. Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju ACA Cricket Ground in Malapadu on Wednesday. After being asked to bat first, Krishnamurthy struck 10 boundaries in her 71-run knock besides sharing a 57-run stand with debutant Devika Vaidya (32) for fifth wicket to help India post a target of 200 runs. In reply, West Indies made a promising start to their innings, with openers Hayley Matthews (44) and Shaquana Quintyne (18) sharing a 49-run stand. One drop Kycia A Knight was the highest scorer for the visitors with 55 runs. Despite all efforts, West Indies fell short of runs and were eventually bundled out for 184 with five balls to spare. Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the pick of the bowlers for India for his figures of four for 34, with Deepti Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur and Vaidya all chipping in with a wicket each. Earlier, India won the first two ODIs by six and five wickets respectively against the West Indies. (ANI)
