Gabriel's magic help Windies humiliate Pakistan in Barbados Test
Barbados [West Indies], May 5 (ANI): Shannon Gabriel produced a magical spell of hostile fast bowling as West Indies defeated Pakistan by 106 runs in the second Test at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown on Thursday. Chasing a target of 188 after leg-spinner Yasir Shah's seven for 94 wrapped up the home side's second innings at 268 at the start of Day Five, Pakistan were bundled out for just 81 in 34.4 overs 80 minutes after lunch. At one stage, the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side were in danger of their lowest-ever total when Ahmed Shehzad and Shadab Khan fell shortly after lunch at 36 for seven. However, Ahmed and Mohammad Amir took them past their lowest total of 49 with a gritting 42-run stand. Ahmed, the top scorer with 23, was the final man out in the afternoon session as the visitors bowed before the West Indies. Gabriel, who took 5-11 in the second innings, rightly earned the Man of the Match award with overall figures of nine for 92, the third-best by a West Indian against Pakistan. Earlier in the day, the host lost the final wicket after only five balls to be all out for 268, a lead of 187. Shah, who has yesterday scalped six wickets, claimed the final wicket of the home side's second innings to finish with seven for 94 in the innings and with match figures of nine for 177. Earlier, Pakistan scored 393 in reply to the hosts' first-innings total of 312. The victory of the host now leaves the series at 1-1 with the third and the final Test to be played in Dominica beginning next Wednesday. (ANI)
