Frustrating weather dampens India's hopes of retaining No.1 Test ranking
Port of Spain, Aug 20 (ANI): India's chances of retaining their number one ranking seem highly unlikely after the third day of the fourth and final Test against West Indies was called off due to wet outfield and bad weather at Queen's Park Oval on Saturday. Despite trying various means, including digging up the outfield, the ground staff failed to get the Queen's Park Oval fit enough for any cricket on day three, ESPNcricinfo reported. All the efforts, in the absence of super sopper, subsequently went in vain as rain poured down heavily around noon. This was the second consecutive day when play was called off without a ball being bowled. Only 22 overs were possible on the opening day as West Indies made 62 for two with Kraigg Brathwaite (32) and Marlon Samuels (4) on crease before rain washed out the rest of the day's play. India are currently leading 2-0 in the series and will retain the number one ranking only if they beat the West Indies in Port of Spain. (ANI)
