`Fit-again` Santner replaces Neesham for second Pakistan Test
Hamilton [New Zealand], Nov.21 (ANI): New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner, who has recovered fully from a wrist injury he suffered three weeks ago, has been brought in the 15-man squad as a replacement for Jimmy Neesham for the second and final Test against Pakistan starting November 25 at Seddon Park. Pleased to have Santner back in the squad, national selector Gavin Larsen said the former would provide all-round ability to the team after coming off from a strong tour of India. "It's obviously pleasing to have Mitchell back with the team ahead of the second Test. With him and Todd (Astle) in the team, it gives us the opportunity to play two spinners if required. Mitchell brings all-round ability and is coming off a strong tour of India," Larsen said about Santner, who was forced to miss the opening Test due to the wrist fracture. Meanwhile, the status of Ross Taylor for the crucial game is yet to be confirmed. Taylor would be considered for selection only after he consults a specialist about a growth in his left eye, which New Zealand coach Mike Hesson felt may be affecting his batting and catching. Northern Districts' batsman Dean Brownlie has been currently called in the squad as cover for Taylor. "We're still waiting on a little more information on Ross before we make any decision on his availability for the second Test. Dean will come in as cover, but we should know more in the next couple of days," Larsen was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. New Zealand are currently leading the series by 1-0 after clinching an eight-wicket win over Pakistan in the opening Test in Christchurch. The updated New Zealand squad is as follows: Kane Williamson (capt), Todd Astle, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Mitchell Santner, Jeet Raval, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Neil Wagner, BJ Watling, Dean Brownlie.
