`Fit-again` Ronchi recalled in NZ squad for Proteas series
Wellington [New Zealand], Feb.12 (ANI):Wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi, who has recovered fully from a groin injury he sustained during Bangladesh series last month, has been recalled in the 14-man ODI and T20 squads for the upcoming series against South Africa. The 35-year-old suffered a tear to his right adductor during his side's 47-run win against Bangladesh in the second T20 at Bay Oval in January. Subsequently, he was ruled out of the successful Chappell-Hadlee series against Australia and was replaced by uncapped Tom Blundell. Reflecting on Ronchi's return, New Zealand selector Gavin Larsen said that it was great to have number one white-ball wicketkeeper back in the squad, adding that his presence would bring considerable experience to the side. "It will be great to have Luke back in the mix. He's the number one white-ball wicketkeeper in the country and brings considerable experience to the group," ESPNcricinfo quoted Larsen as saying. Opener Martin Guptill, who missed the last two matches against Australia due to a hamstring injury, has also been recalled in both the squad. While leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has retained his place in the ODI squad, batsman Colin Munro was left out after making just three and two in the Chappell-Hadlee Series against Australia. The Kane Williamson-led side will play the one-off T20I against South Africa in Auckland on February 17 before heading into the five-match ODI series starting from February 19 at Seddon Park, Hamilton. New Zealand T20I squad: Kane Williamson (capt), Corey Anderson, Trent Boult, Tom Bruce, Lockie Ferguson, Colin de Grandhomme, Martin Guptill, Colin Munro, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ben Wheeler. New Zealannd ODI squad: Kane Williamson (capt), Trent Boult, Neil Broom, Lockie Ferguson, Colin de Grandhomme, Martin Guptill, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, James Neesham, Luke Ronchi, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Ross Taylor.
