Determined Sarfraz upbeat about Pakistan's comeback against England
Karachi, July 29 (ANI): Despite suffering a humiliating defeat to England in the second Test, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed remained upbeat and expressed that his side are determined to rectify their flaws and stage a strong comeback in the third match at Edgbaston starting from Wednesday. The 29-year-old batsman admitted that Pakistan failed to replicate their first match's inspiring performance in the second Test, going down to England by massive 330 runs at Old Trafford. "Although the pitch had some help for our bowlers, we were unable to bowl in the same manner we did against England at Lord's," Sarfraz was quoted as saying by pakpassion.net. "Also, the fact is that we failed to click in both batting and bowling departments. This is unlike how our batting, bowling and even fielding came good at the Lord's Test not too long ago. However, as I said, we will work on fixing these problems and make a strong comeback in this series to make it 2-1 in our favour." Sarfraz also identified the early dismissal of England captain Alastair Cook and star batsman Joe Root as the key to maintain stranglehold over the hosts. "This is foremost in our minds. These two are key batsmen for England and we will plan to take their wickets early so as to put pressure on the rest of the batting line-up," he added. Pakistan won the opening match of the four-Test series against England by 75 runs before losing the second one. (ANI)
