Corey Anderson roped in as specialist batsman for ODI series against India

Wellington [New Zealand], Sept.19 (ANI): New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson has been recalled to the ODI squad as a specialist batsman for the five-match series against India, starting in Dharamsala on October 16. Anderson played his last international game during the World T20 in India before a back injury ruled him out of the tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa. Reflecting on his recall, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) selector Gavin Larsen said that Anderson had done a lot of hard work to make a return to the national squad, adding that his presence would surely strengthen the middle-order. "Corey's professionalism throughout his rehab process has led to this point, and it's a credit to him and the hard work he's put in. We're excited to have him back. He provides power through the middle order and knows the conditions in India well,"Larsen was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. The national selector, however, said that they would continue to monitor Anderson's rehabilitation process throughout the series. All-rounder James Neesham, who made a return to the Test cricket after a long injury lay-off, has also been picked in the 15-man squad while Anton Devcich and wicketkeeper BJ Watling have also received a nod to face the Indian side. Meanwhile, Henry Nicholls, who is a part of the Test squad in India, has been left out of the ODI series.
