Buttler likely to be recalled for Mohali Test
Mohali [India], Nov.22 (ANI):England's wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, who was dropped a year ago, is in line to be recalled in the Test squad for the third match against India beginning November 26 in Mohali. The 26-year-old, who has played just one first-class game since axing, is expected to return in the England side as a specialist batsman. Hinting on Buttler's probable inclusion, England head coach Trevor Bayliss said the former could push his way back to the Test squad if he plays in the same way as he performs in one-day format. "The one thing with Jos is that if he plays the same way as he does in one-day cricket, I think that's the way ahead for him; red ball or white ball. I think he's starting to get his head around that fact," Bayliss was quoted, as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "He's in the top echelon of destructive batters when it comes to white-ball cricket, and there's no reason - if he can get his head around playing against a red ball - that he can't do the same and put the pressure back on the opposition," he added. Buttler is likely to be brought in place of Ben Duckett, who was dismissed by Ravichandran Ashwin thrice in the four innings played so far. While Duckett looks certain to be dropped, Bayliss remains an admirer of his ability and his work-ethic and describes him as a `special talent` in the team. "I think he's got a special talent. Whether he plays the next match or not, I think he'll play a lot more for England. Every level you get to, you go up. It gets harder and harder, and the step is bigger. Ben's working harder than anyone in the nets to try to fix things up, getting himself into a position that he is confident enough to score runs," Bayliss said. England are currently trailing 0-1 against India following their 246-run defeat in the second Test in Visakhapatnam. The first Test between the two sides ended in a pale draw. (ANI)
