Brisbane Test: India A lose series after rain washes out fourth day
Brisbane [Australia], Sept.18 (ANI):The second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A ended in a draw after the play on the fourth and final day was called off without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain and a wet outfield at Allan Border Field here on Sunday. With the draw, the home side have clinched the two-match series 1-0, having secured a three-wicket win over India A at the same venue in the opening game. Earlier, India A had finished the third day at 158 for 4, with opener Akhil Herwadkar and Sanju Samson remaining unbeaten at their respective scores of 82 and 34 respectively. The hosts were in a commanding position to make it two-nil heading into the fourth and final day, needing just six wickets to win the match. Meanwhile, the Naman Ojha-led side still needed another 109 runs to make the Australia A side to bat again. Australia A had earlier posted a huge first innings score of 435 in reply to India A's 169. As far as bowling is concerned, Kane Richardson (4/37) and Jon Holland (3/59) were the pick of the bowlers for the hosts while Sahrdul Thakur (5/101) was the top performer for India A.(ANI)
