Melbourne [Australia], Dec.26 (ANI): Jackson Bird struck twice in quick succession as Australia reduced Pakistan to 142-4 before heavy downpour ended the opening day's play of the second Test of the three-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Monday. Opting to bat first, Pakistan lost opener Sami Aslam for mere nine runs. Azhar Ali (unbeaten 66) then joined forces with first drop Babar Azam (23) and shared a 42-run stand for second wicket to steady their side's innings. ounis Khan also contributed 21 runs before being dismissed on Bird's delivery. Bird finished the day with two wickets while Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon chipped in with a wicket each. Australia are currently leading 1-0 in the series following their nail-biting 39-run win over the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side in the opening Test at the Gabba. (ANI)
