WTA Rankings: Naomi Osaka storms into top ten

Florida [USA], Sep 10 (ANI): Newly-crowned US Open champion Naomi Osaka has made a jump of 12 places to acquire the seventh spot in Women's Tennis Association Ranking (WTA).

Florida [USA], Sep 10 (ANI): Newly-crowned US Open champion Naomi Osaka has made a jump of 12 places to acquire the seventh spot in Women's Tennis Association Ranking (WTA).
The 20-year-old, who leaped ahead following her victory over 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the finals of the US Open, has become the youngest player to make her place in the list of top 20 players, WTA official website reported.
While Simona Halep of Romania retained her top spot on the list, Germany's Angelique Kerber moved one spot up to acquire the third position. Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark also maintained her number two position with Caroline Garcia jumping two positions to attain the fourth position, followed by Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic on number five.
In the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, Serbian player Novak Djokovic has made a gain of three points to claim the third position on the list following his US Open triumph.
The top two positions remain unchanged with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer claiming the first and second spots, respectively.
While US Open finalist Juan Martin del Potro slipped one spot to the number four, Marin Cilic of Croatia lumped one position to hold on the sixth ranking on the list.
Other key gainers in the ATP rankings include Kei Nishikori, Milos Raonic, and John Millman. (ANI)
