Kyrgios battles into Brisbane International semis

Brisbane [Australia], Jan 5 (ANI): Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios produced a spirited performance as he bounced back from a set down against former finalist Alexandr Dologolov to book his place in the semi-finals of the Brisbane International here on Friday.

After going down in the first set, Kyrgios, who had his left knee heavily taped, didn't appear to be hampered by his injury as he rebounded strongly to clinch a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over her Ukrainian opponent in a clash that lasted two hours and 11 minutes.

The Australian tennis star will now face either defending champion Grigor Dimitrov or Kyle Edmund for a spot in the finals of the men's singles event.

In another clash, teenage wild-card entry Alex De Minaur also stormed into the last-four, following his comfortable 6-4, 6-4 win over Michael Mmoh in a last-16 encounter that lasted one and a half hour.

He will now face the winner of another quarter-final clash between Denis Istomin and Ryan Harrison.(ANI)
